Gastrodome Catering has been trading since early 2011, and was in need of a suitable website to advertise and inform potential customers about their company and the services which they provide.
I worked closely with Gastrodome to produce a concept design, which was then built and coded into a fully functional website layout. The end result being a contemporary design, with a light modern feel to it.
Within the website, I custom coded a cms to allow Gastrodome to manage their events themselves. This let them view, edit and remove events with ease. All of these features secured through the requirement of administrator credentials, to prevent unauthorised access.
The contact form was an experiment on my part, which worked out very well in the end. I wanted to incorporate features which are usually achieved through the use of javascript, but with the security and reliability of being run server-side. The form validation is solely server side to reduce the risk of abuse, and incorrectly filled in data. A useful feature of the form is that it features what I call 'progressive' error messages. Instead of informing the user of everything wrong their data entry, it does so step by step, progressing through a list of requirements. E.g. field required, minimum character length, incorrect format.
